The Federal Law makes amendments to a number of laws regulating or concerning healthcare. The amendments concern, in particular, medical organisations’ legal and organisational status, types and conditions of medical assistance, and patients’ rights in some areas. The amendments also concern provision of psychiatric care, preventing the spread in Russia of diseases caused by HIV infection, drug addiction treatment and social rehabilitation for drug addicts, and procedures related to state registration of and expert reports on medicines.
In particular, a provision has been added to Federal Law On the Basis of Public Health Protection in the Russian Federation, in accordance with which an annual report on implementing state healthcare policy will be presented to both houses of the Federal Assembly.
