Vladimir Putin submitted Treaty on Kyrgyzstan’s Accession to the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty to State Duma for ratification

The President submitted the Treaty on the Kyrgyz Republic’s Accession to the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty of May 29, 2014, signed in Moscow on December 23, 2014, and other documents pertaining to Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union to the State Duma for ratification.

The Treaty on the Kyrgyz Republic’s Accession to the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty of May 29, 2014 was prepared by the Eurasian Economic Commission jointly with government agencies of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic, with participation by the Republic of Armenia on the basis of statements by the heads of state of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic on the Kyrgyz Republic’s intention to become a full-fledged member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The Treaty was signed in Moscow on December 23, 2014.

The package of documents submitted to the State Duma for ratification also includes the Protocol on the Republic of Armenia’s Accession to the Treaty of December 23, 2014 on the Accession by the Kyrgyz Republic to the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty of May 29, 2014. This is due to the fact that the Republic of Armenia was not a signatory of the Treaty on the Kyrgyz Republic’s Accession, since it joined the EAEU at a later date, on January 2, 2015. The Protocol was signed in Moscow on May 8, 2015.

The Treaty on the Kyrgyz Republic’s Accession is the main document establishing the agreement by the Parties on the conditions for the Kyrgyz Republic’s accession to the EAEU. Other documents from the package, including the Protocol on the Republic of Armenia’s Accession, will become an integral part of the Treaty on the Kyrgyz Republic’s Accession and, alongside it, will enter into EAEU legislation, established by the EAEU Treaty.
