To implement Russia’s National Policy on Nuclear and Radiation Safety through 2025, the federal law introduces a legislative definition of the spent fuel term that is in line with the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management of September 5, 1997.
In particular, the federal law specifies matters that concern the activities of Rosatom State Corporation, as well as licensing of activities of organisations that use nuclear materials and radioactive substances when using atomic energy for defence purposes.
The law also specifies the list of functions and authorities of Rosatom State Corporation and the sources of funding its activities.
