Code of Administrative Offences amended to designate photo, video and audio recordings as evidence

Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Article 26.7 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation concerning designation of photo, video and audio recordings as evidence in proceedings on administrative offences.

The amendments are aimed at ensuring equal rights to due process for parties to a trial, especially in cases of administrative proceedings related to road traffic violations.

In accordance with the Federal Law, photo, audio and video recordings, material from databases and databanks, as well as other storage devices shall be viewed as direct, not circumstantial, evidence in administrative offence cases.

The Federal Law provides new possibilities for parties involved in administrative proceedings to provide evidence, such as recordings from dashboard cameras, to back their arguments in administrative proceedings.
