20:00

To perpetuate the memory of prominent state, military and public figures, people of science, the arts, culture and sports, and other persons who have performed special services to the Fatherland, the President resolved that certain geographical landmarks (airports, railway stations, sea and river ports) may be named after prominent people.

These geographical landmarks shall be named after such prominent figures by the President of the Russian Federation on recommendations from the Government of the Russian Federation.

Proposals for naming geographical landmarks after prominent figures shall be submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation by the Civic Chamber following public consultations.

The name of a prominent figure is not an integral part of the established geographical name and does not entail changing it.

The Government has been given instructions concerning the procedure for considering proposals for naming certain geographical landmarks after prominent figures and the procedure for using the names of prominent figures assigned to geographical landmarks.
