The Federal Law is designed to improve the legal aspects of social interactions related to foreign nationals receiving honorary weapons and Russian nationals receiving honorary weapons from foreign heads of state and government.
Pursuant to the Federal Law, the President shall determine procedures to be followed by citizens of the Russian Federation when receiving honorary weapons from foreign heads of state and government. Foreign nationals shall receive honorary weapons under a presidential executive order, government resolution or under orders by heads of federal government agencies duly authorised by the President of the Russian Federation. The Government of the Russian Federation shall determine the type and models of weapons that can be awarded to foreign nationals, as well as the procedures to be followed when granting this decoration.
