In order to improve the quality of life of the terminally ill, the Federal Law on Basic Healthcare in the Russian Federation is amended in relation to the definition of palliative care, with the specification of types of palliative care and the procedures involved in its provision.
The amendments fully correspond with global practices, in particular, with the World Health Organisation Resolution “Strengthening of Palliative Care as a Component of Comprehensive Care Throughout the Life Course” (May 24, 2014, WHA67.19).
