In connection with the 100th anniversary of the birth of outstanding scientist and public activist Andrei Sakharov, Vladimir Putin issued instructions recommending that the Foundation for Commemorating Victims of Political Repressions establish an organising committee to prepare and hold corresponding events.
It was recommended that the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Russian Academy of Sciences provide organisational, administrative and financial support for the organising committee.
It was also recommended that Russian regional and local government bodies as well as public institutions and interested scientific organisations take part in preparing and holding events to mark the 100th anniversary of Andrei Sakharov’s birth.
