The Federal Law is aimed at expanding the use of modern digital technology during voting and provides for conducting an experiment on remote e-voting at the elections of the Moscow City Duma of the seventh convocation.
Remote e-voting is based on voters’ applications and instead of paper ballots, remote e-voting uses electronic ballots via special software of the regional website of government and municipal services of Moscow, a city of federal significance.
Remote e-voting is carried out simultaneously with usual voting. In organising, implementing and summing up the results of remote e-voting, transparency will be ensured in line with the requirements envisaged by the Federal Law On Basic Guarantees of Voting Rights of Citizens of the Russian Federation and Their Right to Take Part in a Referendum.
