The Federal Law sets forth the specific procedure for disseminating information in social networks.
In particular, owners of social networks are obliged to prevent the dissemination of information in social networks for illegal purposes, to ensure respect for the rights and legitimate interests of citizens and organisations when disseminating information, and to monitor social networks in order to identify information which is prohibited for dissemination in accordance with Russian Federation legislation.
The law also obliges a social network owner to publish the rules of its use in the network and to ensure that appeals by social network users are considered within 30 calendar days from the date of their receipt.
In addition, a social network owner is entitled to request that an authorised federal executive body make an assessment of whether information revealed during monitoring or obtained as a result of appeal consideration complies with legal requirements.
