The Federal Law is designed to protect state bodies of the Russian Federation performing their duties outside the territory of the Russian Federation with the aim of protecting the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens and maintaining international peace and security.
In view of the above, Article 2073 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation is appended with provisions on liability for public dissemination of deliberately false information containing information on the performance of their duties by the above mentioned bodies, whereas Article 2803 of the Code is appended with provisions of liability for public actions aimed at discrediting the performance of their duties by such bodies, committed by a person who was previously brought to account for a similar act within a period of one year.
The above actions entail the same punishment as similar actions committed with regard to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The Federal Law is also designed to delineate criminal and administrative liability for the destruction of or damage to woodlands or other vegetation caused by careless handling of fire or other sources of increased danger, as well as to partially decriminalise such acts.
