The Agreement was signed in Moscow and St John’s on June 8, 2021.
Under the Agreement, the parties will develop their relations based on strict compliance with the provisions of the UN Charter, including the principles of sovereign equality of states, the equality and self-determination of nations, peaceful settlement of disputes, the non-use of force or threat of force, non-interference in matters that essentially amount to the internal affairs of states, as well as other principles and norms of international law.
The Agreement stipulates that the parties will cooperate within the framework of the UN and regional and international organisations and forums with the aim of promoting stronger world peace, stability and security, and creating the basis for the socioeconomic development and prosperity of their peoples.
The Agreement also says that Russia and Antigua and Barbuda, acting in accordance with bilateral and multilateral international treaties to which they are party, will cooperate in the fight against international terrorism and its financing, and illegal trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as transnational organised crime.
