The Federal Law is aimed at tailoring the provisions of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation to the Federal Law On Control over the Activities of Persons under Foreign Influence and improving the laws that stipulate liability for persons involved in violating the fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens of the Russian Federation.
For these purposes, the law provides for toughening criminal liability for creating destructive organisations (including those recognised as foreign agents), the activities of which involve violence against people and the infliction of other damage to people’s health, as well as instigation of citizens to refuse to fulfil their civic duties.
In addition, grounds for bringing to criminal responsibility for violating the laws of the Russian Federation on foreign agents are specified.
