Under the draft federal law, the Russian Federation suspends the Treaty between Russia and the US on measures for the further reduction and limitation of strategic offensive arms, signed in Prague on April 8, 2010.
The Treaty contains provisions to limit and reduce strategic offensive arms and entitles both Parties to carry out inspections in order to ensure compliance with the Treaty’s provisions.
However, the United States has been intentionally failing to comply with its commitments under the Treaty in this regard.
Accordingly, the President of the Russian Federation submits a proposal to suspend the Treaty as per Federal Law No. 101-FZ, dated July 15, 1995, On the International Treaties of the Russian Federation.
