For mass heroism and valour, fortitude and courage displayed by the regiment’s personal in combat operations to protect the Fatherland and state interests in armed conflicts, the President resolved to award the honorary name Guards to the 559th Bomber Aviation Regiment. From now on it shall be referred to as the 559th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment.
