The Federal Law supplements the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation with article 3303 that introduces liability for the operation, on the territory of the Russian Federation, of a foreign or international non-profit/non-governmental organisation that is not listed as a business unit in the registry of branches and representative offices of international organisations and foreign non-profit/non-governmental organisations or that has no business unit registered according to the Russian law on non-profit organisations.
The amendments specify penalties for individuals involved in the activities of the above organisations. The same amendments provide for release from liability if the liable individual voluntarily ceases participation in the organisation’s activity and actively cooperates with the investigation.
The Federal Law also establishes greater accountability for starting and managing the organisations described above.
