The purposes of creating the Board of Trustees of the Russian Academy of Sciences include promoting the effective functioning of the Russian Academy of Sciences, addressing long-term tasks and primary objectives, such as defining the priorities of the Academy’s activities, and promoting cooperation of the Russian Academy of Sciences with public, non-governmental and other organisations.
It is assumed that the Board of Trustees of the Russian Academy of Sciences will consider matters related to promoting the most important scientific achievements and using the results of strategically important scientific research, which will create groundwork for the Russian Academy of Sciences spearheading interdisciplinary projects in priority areas. Implementing joint projects of the Russian Academy of Sciences and its regional branches with businesses will contribute, among other things, to meeting the important needs of the economy and the social sphere of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and ensuring our country’s technological sovereignty.
According to the Federal Law, the Board of Trustees of the Russian Academy of Sciences is headed by the President of the Russian Federation, who appoints Board members based on the proposals from the Russian Academy of Sciences Presidium.
The Board of Trustees of the Russian Academy of Sciences will have no more than 20 members, including the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who is an ex officio member of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
