The Federal Law supplements certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation on countering the legalisation (laundering) of proceeds from crime and the financing of terrorism, adding provisions on countering the financing of extremist activity.
In this regard, the Federal Law grants the Federal Financial Monitoring Service with authority to suspend transactions with funds or other property potentially obtained by criminal means and aimed at legalising such assets, as well as to send inquiries to the competent authorities of foreign states for the purpose of suspending such transactions, and to act upon similar inquiries from the competent authorities of foreign states.
