The Federal Law is aimed at improving migration legislation by extending the period of temporary stay in the Russian Federation for participants in the State Programme to Assist Voluntary Resettlement of Compatriots Living Abroad, and certain categories of foreign workers.
For this purpose, the Federal Law supplements Article 256 of the Federal Law On Entry to and Exit from the Russian Federation with a new provision that allows for the issuance of an ordinary private visa to participants in the abovementioned State Programme and their family members for a period of up to one year, with the possibility of extending it for as long as the participant’s status in the State Programme remains valid.
The Federal Law also stipulates the issuance of an ordinary working visa (single or double entry) for a period of up to three months to foreign nationals who are employed by foreign legal entities (manufacturers or suppliers) engaged in installation (installation supervision) works, maintenance, warranty service, or post-warranty repair of technical equipment supplied to the Russian Federation. The validity of such visa may be extended for an additional period not exceeding ninety days.
