The Federal Law is aimed at improving the readmission procedure in line with international agreements of the Russian Federation.
For this purpose, amendments have been introduced to the federal laws On Procedure for Exit from and Entry to the Russian Federation and On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation, so that readmission is possible not only on the basis of a travel document or of a number of travel documents specified by relevant international agreements of the Russian Federation, but also on the basis of a decision of the Federal Migration Service.
The Law is supplemented by provisions governing the delivery to special readmission facilities of a foreign citizen or a stateless person subject to readmission, as well as provisions determining that the terms and conditions of the stay of foreign citizens and stateless persons subject to readmission in special readmission facilities are set by the Government of the Russian Federation.
In addition, the Law is supplemented by a provision that establishes procedures for conducting a personal search of foreign citizens and stateless persons subject to readmission, and the inspection of their belongings.
