State visit to Armenia
In Gyumri, Mr Putin and Mr Sargsyan followed via videoconference the launch of operations at the Hrazdan thermal power station’s fifth power unit. Later, both presidents took part in a meeting of the Russian-Armenian Interregional Forum. Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the monument to the victims of the Spitak earthquake. The Russian President also visited the 102nd Russian military base, which is on station there as part of the Joint CIS Air Defence System. In Yerevan, Vladimir Putin had talks with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. Following the talks, the two presidents witnessed the signing of a package of documents.
