The message to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper reads, in part:
“This year, which saw the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics and Canada’s presidency in the Group of Eight and the Group of Twenty, can by right be called the year of Canada. I have warm memories of our conversations during the recent summits in Muskoka and Toronto.
Canada is Russia’s key partner in international affairs. The constructive cooperation between our nations, including on issues related to the Arctic, counter-terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, are an important factor in strengthening global security.
We are set to continue developing bilateral relations and active cooperation on mutually beneficial projects in trade, investment, culture and social spheres.
I am confident that close relations between Russia and Canada will be further strengthened to the benefit of our nations, and in the interest of international peace and stability.
I wish you and all Canadian people wellbeing and prosperity.”
