The Agreement, which takes into account the modern contractual practice, the laws of the Russian Federation and international standards in this area, has been signed in Pyongyang on November 17, 2015, with the aim of expanding the international legal basis of the Russian-North Korean cooperation in terms of mutual legal assistance in criminal cases.
Under the Agreement, the parties undertake to provide mutual legal assistance in compliance with the provisions of the agreement during investigations, court hearings or other proceedings linked with criminal cases. The Agreement stipulates the amount of mutual legal assistance, the form and contents of requests to provide legal assistance and the procedure for fulfilling these requests.
