The agreement was signed in Moscow on December 16, 2014, to develop the legal basis for cooperation between Russia and Lebanon on matters concerning the transfer of sentenced persons.
Under the agreement, the two countries undertake, on a reciprocal basis and in accordance with the agreement, to transfer from one country to the other sentenced persons so that they can serve their sentences in their country of citizenship. This will help to protect Russian citizens’ rights and lawful interests.
The agreement does not apply to matters regulated by the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union and does not run counter to any of the Russian Federation’s international agreements.
