The Agreement was signed on September 22, 2016 in New York City.
Under the Agreement, the parties shall expand their relations on the basis of unfailingly honouring provisions of the UN Charter, and they shall cooperate within the format of the UN system, regional international organisations and forums for the purpose of helping to strengthen international peace, stability and security, providing a foundation for the socioeconomic development as well as prosperity of their nations.
The Agreement also calls for strengthening science and technological cooperation, primarily in the area of cutting-edge technology plus the development of human resources; cooperation in combating international terrorism and trans-border organised crime; expanded bilateral cooperation in the area of culture, art, education, healthcare, media, the cinema industry, tourism, youth exchanges, and sports.
