The agreement stipulates that the Republic of Abkhazia delegates to the Russian Federation the authority to protect its state borders and sea waters under its sovereignty, subject to its sovereign rights and jurisdiction. Furthermore, it determines the status and conditions for deployment in the Republic of Abkhazia of the border guarding units of Russia’s Federal Security Service.
The agreement was signed in Moscow on April 30, 2009.
