In his remarks at the event, Mr Ivanov said that preparations for the May 9 Victory Day celebrations have been a truly nationwide effort, with a huge number of anniversary events set to take place all around Russia.
The exhibits on display at the Historical Museum give an honest and objective portrayal of the role the Soviet people and outstanding Soviet military commanders played in achieving victory in World War II. Mr Ivanov noted that the exhibition is opening in a building that witnessed the Victory Day parade on Red Square in 1945.
Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky, war veterans, and culture and arts figures also attended the opening ceremony.
