The message reads, in part:
“For many years, the St Petersburg International Economic Forum has attracted well-known entrepreneurs, major international investors and influential politicians and experts. It is a platform for candid discussions to be held on a wide range of economic, financial and social issues, with long-term contracts and agreements being concluded on the sidelines.
The slogan for this year’s event, “Time to Act: Shared Paths to Stability and Growth”, reflects our strategy in the new realities of today’s global economy. The massive upheavals of recent years call for coordinated steps from the international community to ensure sustainable long-term development. It is important to become more effective at managing global processes, attract investment in the real economy, step up the development and implementation of breakthrough technologies and establish a fair competitive environment in the international market. Naturally, we must also search for ways to better unlock the human potential.
The participants in this year’s Forum will find the programme to be of particular interest, including as it does the SCO Business Forum, the BRICS Business Forum, the B20 Regional Consultation Forum and a host of other events. The Global Energy Prize and Development Prize presentation ceremonies are among the regular fixtures scheduled for the Forum.
We also expect to tackle the key issues surrounding the international and Russian economic agendas. Particular attention will be given to the promotion of regional integration, especially the Eurasian Economic Union.
I firmly believe that the ideas and proposals formulated at this year’s Forum will go a long way towards improving economic cooperation and strengthening mutual trust.”
The St Petersburg International Economic Forum is held annually under the patronage of the President of Russia. This year’s Forum will take place on June 18–20.
