The message reads, in part:

“On April 7, we observe the centenary of the repose of Saint Tikhon, who was elected to lead the Russian Orthodox Church following the restoration of the patriarchate in 1917.

Leading the Russian Orthodox Church during one of the most challenging periods in our nation’s history, he endured trials and persecutions with unwavering dignity. He became a shining example of steadfast faith, true Christian self-denial, selfless service to the Fatherland, and loyalty to his people.

Orthodox people remember Saint Tikhon as an active and devoted arch-priest, committed to preserving the traditions and canons of the Orthodox Church, a wise and compassionate mentor, always ready to offer guidance and support. His canonisation at the Bishops’ Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 1989 stands as an acknowledgement of his exceptional ecclesiastical and public services.

The primatial feat of Patriarch Tikhon, his tireless labours, and rich spiritual and humanistic heritage continue to inspire the Russian Orthodox Church to actively engage in the life of the nation. We highly appreciate the significant contribution of the clergy to upholding moral ideals, fostering interethnic harmony and interreligious peace, and promoting the principles of mercy and justice, unity, and cohesion, for the national support of our heroes fighting for a right cause. And of course, we look forward to the continuing fruitful cooperation in such important areas as education and healthcare, the preservation of cultural and historical heritage, the protection of the family, motherhood and childhood, and patriotic education of young people.”
