The President said, in particular, in his message:
“Over many years now, your regular meetings have been making a big contribution to expanding the Russian-language information space and bringing together not just our compatriots in many countries but everyone who is interested in modern Russia’s history, culture and life.
Participants in this year’s Congress can expect a substantial and in-depth discussion of the media’s increasing role and responsibility in global politics and the need to provide honest and unbiased coverage of events and firmly resist attempts to distort facts to serve particular countries’ geopolitical interests.
I note in particular that, for the first time, the Congress has been organised by the People’s Republic of China, with which Russia shares close ties of friendship. I am sure that in Shanghai you will have the opportunity for interesting and useful meetings and lively discussions that will contribute to the Russian-language press’ continued growth and spread around the world.”
