The exhibition, organised at Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University, is taking place on the sidelines of the seventh Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan, whose central theme is the interaction between the two countries in the sphere of high technologies.
Rector of Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University Galimkair Mutanov showed the two presidents around the exhibition and told them about different ways of supporting innovations and the launch of technology parks in Kazakhstan.
Dmitry Medvedev and Nursultan Nazarbayev also visited the Irgetas (Foundation) engineering laboratory, where they learned about the operation of a microscope designed for the substance structure nanoscale studies. The laboratory conducts research of polymetallic ores and their enrichment.
The two leaders toured an exhibition of innovative technology in the housing and utilities sector displaying techniques for the use of sunlight and rainwater as sources of energy and water in residential buildings.
Later, Dmitry Medvedev and Nursultan Nazarbayev held talks to discuss the prospects of trade and economic ties, the Customs Union and issues of cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).
