In accordance with the Federal Law On Amendments to the Federal Law on Basic Healthcare in the Russian Federation, the Government of the Russian Federation has set out a list of life-threatening and chronic progressive rare (orphan) diseases that can reduce life expectancy or result in disability.
Medicines to treat a range of these diseases are provided through federal budget appropriations to the appropriate federal executive body.
The Federal Law expands the list of diseases from this group for which medicines will be purchased centrally using federal budget funds.
