The message reads, in part:
“Traditionally, your tournament brings together representatives of various martial arts of all ages. Novice athletes as well as renowned masters of judo, sambo, boxing and jujutsu meet in uncompromising and spectacular fights. It comes as no surprise that over the last decade these fights have become a large and notable event in the sports life of St Petersburg and Russia and have even reached the international level. And, of course, every year they attract more participants, introduce young people to the values of fitness and a healthy lifestyle, promoting martial arts, their history and the achievements of famous Russian champions who have made a great contribution to the promotion of martial arts in Russia.
Vladimir Solovyov was such a person. I am confident that a tournament named after him will continue to develop, expand its geography and creative horizons and help to create continuous generations in sports.”
