President of Russia Vladimir Putin: <…> We support constructive dialogue, an exchange regarding what we can do together to implement the projects we have planned for the Far East, to ensure that our cooperation benefits both the Russian Federation and our friends in the People’s Republic of China.
As you may know, I have just returned from China, where we took part in large-scale events to mark the end of World War II and victory over Japanese militarism. I believe China organised a very brightly coloured, grand scale and useful event that reminds us of the tragedy of World War II, of the heroism of the Chinese people and our combat fraternity.
Today we are facing quite a few tasks and challenges that we can and must tackle jointly. We discussed with our friend and colleague, President of China Xi Jinping, the entire range of cooperation between China and Russia. Within this context, cooperation between China and Russia in the Far East looks highly promising and significant.
Therefore, we very much hope that our Chinese friends will show interest in the projects and the opportunities that we are demonstrating here in the Russian Far East. I hope you have already familiarised yourself with the opportunities we are offering here and the prospects that are opening up.
Vice-Premier of the People’s Republic of China State Council Wang Yang (retranslated): At the plenary session, you made a very inspired address with examples of specific grand scale events, and your address greatly enhanced our confidence in our successful cooperation.
During our meeting in Ufa, you invited the Chinese side and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping personally to send a government delegation to the Eastern Economic Forum. President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to this event and sent me to head this representative government delegation at the forum. Accompanying me are ten government ministers and four governors.
Apart from government representatives, the delegation also includes business representatives. This time more than 60 leading Chinese companies have come to the Forum. Last year their overall revenue exceeded $2 trillion, which is almost 25 percent of China’s GDP.
I believe that after your address, our Chinese companies will feel more confident in the further successful cooperation in developing the Russian Far East and they will take practical measures to promote joint projects.
Tomorrow, together with Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev, I am ready to hold the first session of the Cooperation Council between regions of the Russian Far East and the Northeast of China. We are ready to make every effort to implement the agreements reached by the heads of our states.
