Mr Medvedev spoke in particular about the economic situation in Russia and the measures taken to improve the financial and economic climate and encourage investment.
Other subjects of discussion included the Russia-EU agreement on Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organisation and the prospects for introducing visa-free travel between Russia and the EU.
The EU-Russia Industrialists’ Round Table (IRT) is an informal group bringing together the heads of 45 big companies from 18 different countries. It was set up in 1997 with the primary objective of creating a good external environment for doing business and a particular emphasis on developing innovation as an essential condition for raising competitiveness.
Before meeting with the business community representatives, Mr Medvedev presented the Pushkin Medal to President of the Union of Russian Nobles in Belgium Alexander Pushkin.
