This year’s International Tchaikovsky Competition is timed to coincide with the 175th anniversary of the great Russian composer’s birth. Altogether, 623 competitors from 45 countries applied to take part in the competition.
Six pianists from Russia, Lithuania, France, and the United States, six violinists from Russia, Moldova, South Korea, Taiwan and Germany, six cellists from Russia, Spain, Romania, South Korea and The Netherlands, and eight singers from Russia, Armenia, Mongolia, China and South Korea have made it to the final.
The winners will perform together with the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev.
