The message reads, in part:
“For many years, this remarkable creative forum has brought together in Moscow prominent masters and aspiring actors, directors and choreographers from around the world. The audience enjoys the replete and enlightening programme of the festival that brings colour to the cultural life in Russia and the world, and introduces the public to highly anticipated premieres and fascinating productions, distinctive traditions and rich legacy of national theatre schools. And of course, such large-scale and festive events contribute to developing international cultural cooperation and strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between nations.
I would like to note that the 14th Chekhov International Theatre Festival is special because 2019 was declared the Year of Theatre in Russia. Therefore, it is an honour and a big responsibility to become a winner of this representative forum. I am certain the festival will be successful and memorable both for its participants and guests.”
The 14th Chekhov International Theatre Festival is taking place between May 14 and July 21. Performers of 22 theatres from Russia, Austria, China, France, Germany and other countries will present their shows in Moscow and several Russian regions. The festival was established in 1992 and is held biennially.
