The message reads, in part:
“It is a great honour and great responsibility for us to host the participants of the congress – writers, painters, translators, librarians, teachers, journalists, and publishers from many countries. You are the ones who make a significant and meaningful contribution to creating and popularising literature for children, open up a fascinating world of knowledge for them, and introduce them to the vast heritage of domestic and foreign classic literature, as well as the best books written by modern authors.
I am confident that the congress will be held in a productive and constructive manner and that it will be a venue full of meaningful meetings and discussions, providing a starting point for major educational, awareness-raising, and informational projects for children and young adults. Importantly, your initiatives should promote the younger generation’s interest in reading, respect for the book, as well as creativity and artistic taste.”
