The development of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has now reached a new level.
In the past, the growth of Russia’s relations with the FAO was hampered by Russia’s non-application of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Specialised Agencies of November 21, 1947, to the FAO. In particular, the failure to resolve this issue has prevented an FAO liaison office from opening in Moscow.
Russia’s acknowledgment that the Convention applies to the FAO will give the FAO liaison office in Moscow and its staff all the privileges and immunities the Convention guarantees.
