The Agreement, drafted with due regard to present-day contractual practice, Russian Federation legislation and corresponding international standards, was signed in Moscow on October 14 2014 to develop the international legal base for cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia in the transfer of individuals sentenced to prison terms.
Under the Agreement, the Parties shall undertake, on a reciprocal basis and in accordance with the agreement’s provisions, to transfer persons sentenced to terms of imprisonment to continue their sentences in their home country, which will help protect Russian citizens’ lawful rights and interests.
