The message reads, in part:
“The development of a direct multilateral dialogue between the legislative assembly speakers of Eurasia, the world’s largest continent, where three fourths of the global population live is a very important and timely initiative.
Members of parliament play an important role in achieving the current goals of European and Asian countries. Legislative activities largely determine the direction and dynamics of trade and economic cooperation, create conditions for implementing international infrastructure projects and cultural exchanges, and are instrumental for improving the legal framework in the fight against terrorism, transnational crime, drug trafficking and other challenges to our common security.
I hope that this representative forum will develop into an effective mechanism for inter-parliamentary cooperation, and that your proposals and initiatives will help strengthen mutual trust and understanding between the Eurasian countries and nations.”
The first Conference of Eurasian Parliament Speakers is taking place in Moscow and features parliament speakers from 19 Eurasian countries.
