The three leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine, in particular, the prospects for further international assistance to resolve the internal Ukrainian conflict through strict implementation of the Minsk Agreements of February 12, 2015.
The Russian President stressed that these agreements are the only basis for settling the crisis.
The leaders agreed to step up consultations in various formats.
They also exchanged views on the Syrian conflict and noted the importance of coordinating the international community’s efforts in the fight against the terrorist threat.
Vladimir Putin expressed hope that the Lausanne meeting of foreign ministers of Russia, the United States and a number of key Middle Eastern countries scheduled for October 15 would be fruitful in terms of real assistance to the Syrian conflict settlement.
