Representative of the Russian President (Sherpa) in the G20 and Deputy Chief of the Experts’ Directorate Svetlana Lukash held a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission to Support Russia’s G20 participation. The meeting was attended by the heads of relevant federal executive government bodies, including the Foreign Ministry, the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Economic Development.
The participants discussed the entire range of issues on the agenda of Italy’s presidency of the forum that brings together the world’s leading economies, related to the restoration of economic growth after the coronavirus pandemic with an emphasis on ensuring sustainable development, upgrading healthcare systems, building the digital economy, countering climate change and raising the efficiency of international structures of global governance.
The meeting analysed specific approaches to using the G20 potential to address the tasks set by the President of the Russian Federation in his Address to the Federal Assembly in 2021, implementing the national development goals up to 2030 and promoting Russian initiatives in the world arena.
The participants outlined further steps on cooperation with their foreign partners in producing and distributing Russian vaccines, preserving global financial stability, reforming international economic institutions, achieving sustainable development goals and switching to low-carbon economic development.
Special attention was given to the preparations for the G20 summits in Rome this year: on healthcare (May 21) and the final meeting of heads of state and government (October 30–31).
