The traditionally friendly and constructive nature of Russian-Iraqi cooperation was affirmed, and mutual support was expressed for building on the success achieved in various fields. Prospects for expanding trade and economic ties were a focus.
Both sides praised the joint work of Russia and Iraq within OPEC+, which makes it possible to ensure the stability of the world oil market.
The situation created by the attempts of several Western countries to impose limits on the cost of crude oil from Russia was discussed. Vladimir Putin stressed that such actions were contrary to market principles and highly likely to result in serious consequences for the global energy market.
Discussing the escalation of tensions in northern Iraq, the President of Russia spoke in favour of resolving emerging issues by political and diplomatic means.
It was agreed to maintain contacts at various levels.
