State visit to China
The President of Russia was on a two-day state visit to the People’s Republic of China.
On the first day, the events took place in Beijing. Vladimir Putin and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping held talks and made press statements. Following the consultations, a package of documents was signed. The leaders of the two countries also addressed a gala concert to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the launch of the Cross Years of Culture of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.
Separately, the President met with Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang. In addition, Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes on Tiananmen Square.
On the second day of the state visit, Vladimir Putin travelled to Harbin. The President took part in the opening ceremony of the 8th Russia-China EXPO and the 4th Russia-China Forum on Interregional Cooperation, and toured the exhibition stands. In addition, the President met with Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Han Zheng.
Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the Monument to the Soviet soldiers who fell in the battles for the liberation of Northeast China, and visited the Church of the Intercession.
At Harbin Institute of Technology, the President viewed the museum exhibits and held a meeting with Chinese and Russian students and faculty.
To wrap up his two-day state visit to China, Vladimir Putin answered questions from Russian media.
