The message reads, in part:
“In June 1968, 50 years ago, Austria’s OMV concern was the first Western company to sign a long-term contract for gas supplies from the USSR to Europe. Over 200 billion cubic metres of “blue fuel” has been exported from our country to Austria in the decades since that time. Russia has always honoured its commitments in full measure, confirming in practice its reputation as a reliable energy supplier.
Today too, the energy sector figures importantly in Russian-Austrian bilateral cooperation. Last year alone, Russian gas exports to Austria surged by 50 percent to 9.1 billion cubic metres. This ensured considerable growth of bilateral trade by more than 40 percent.
Given the stable demand for Russian gas in Europe, Gazprom’s efforts to ensure its uninterrupted transportation, including by implementing new joint infrastructure projects with Euopean partners, are highly relevant.”
