By his Executive Order, the President accepted the resignation of St Petersburg Governor Valentina Matviyenko Matviyenko Valentina Matviyenko ValentinaChairwoman of the Council of Federation and appointed Georgy Poltavchenko Poltavchenko Georgy Poltavchenko Georgy acting governor until a new official appointment is made to the post.
