Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting with the Interior Ministry’s senior officers, which focused on the current situation and future steps in the Ministry’s reform, as well as police officers’ social benefits.

In Tver, Dmitry Medvedev visited a special forces compound, where he observed the unit’s exercises and laid a wreath to the monument of unit’s servicemen who died in the line of duty.

The special purpose unit demonstrated to the President their hostage rescue skills, air dropping from helicopters and wrestling.

In addition, Dmitry Medvedev visited the compound’s gym, where a sambo lesson was in progress for the students of the affiliated school, and inspected the work of highway patrol.

The special purpose unit was established in 1993 to fight organised crime in the region. Its members participated in the rescue operation in Budennovsk and have repeatedly carried out combat missions in the North Caucasus.

Dmitry Medvedev also held a meeting with Tver Region Governor Andrei Shevelev Shevelev Andrei Shevelev Andrei and visited the local bread factory, where he learned about bread production technology.
