Mr Poltavchenko informed the President of the Strategy for the Economic and Social Development of St Petersburg until 2030, adopted after a broad discussion by city residents and with due account of their comments and proposals. He also said that generally the city economy is stable. Thus, in the first six months of the year revenues grew by 14 percent compared to last year, while capital investment went up by 12 percent.
The discussion also touched upon the creation of a new modern museum dedicated to the Nazi siege of Leningrad, which was lifted 70 years ago. This, Mr Poltavchenko said, was a tragic page in the history of the city and the entire country, unique in terms of its citizens’ heroism, and it deserves a comprehensive up-to-date interactive museum.
