During her meeting with LPR head Leonid Pasechnik Pasechnik Leonid Pasechnik LeonidHead of the Lugansk People’s Republic , Maria Lvova-Belova Lvova-Belova Maria Lvova-Belova MariaPresidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights discussed the lives of orphaned children placed under the guardianship of foster families from various regions of the country, as well as the work of the In Children’s Hands hub. The parties also addressed the development of a regional system for preventing social orphanhood.

The Commissioner noted that the LPR, like other new regions, has the opportunity to immediately adopt modern management models, focus on local leaders, and structure its work with an emphasis on family support. Maria Lvova-Belova proposed transforming the In Children’s Hands humanitarian hub, operating in Lugansk, into a foundation for targeted assistance to families with children.

The Children’s Rights Commissioner invited LPR organisations to participate in the Centres of New Opportunities competition. With her support, a daytime care centre for children with disabilities has already opened in the region. There is a need to establish a support space for parents without separating them from their children, which could be organised within existing institutions.

The Children’s Rights Commissioner held a working meeting with directors of orphanages, institutions for children without parental care, and regional preventive system agencies. Maria Lvova-Belova presented preliminary recommendations for the region.

She visited the Razvitiye (Development) centre for psychological, pedagogical, medical, and social assistance and the Lugansk Republican Children’s Home, delivering humanitarian aid that included equipment, stationery, children’s clothing, and toys.

Additionally, the Commissioner met with participants of the Pioner republican adolescent centre, whose opening was previously allocated 5 million rubles.

Maria Lvova-Belova presented a vehicle to the Goncharovs, a large family. The minivan was acquired with support from the Tsargrad charitable foundation. She also delivered humanitarian aid to two families affected by fires, who will receive assistance with housing issues through the Country for Children foundation.

The Commissioner also participated in the consecration of a cross at the site of a future church on the grounds of the Perevalsk special boarding school. Speaking to journalists, Maria Lvova-Belova recalled her pledge during her previous visit to support the church’s construction.
